Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      Good on ya, Red!

None of the admin team could write anything mainly 'cos they can't afford one! Also, most of them are autos and we drive our cars for fun!

Grandmas hatch would be an A3, built on the same platform as the Golf, the Skoda Favorit, and the Seat Ibiza. Basically the same car, usin 80% the same parts, just tailored to wallet size. Clever marketing by Volkswagen.

Yes the admin team are all too poor to afford new Audis. I`d want a manual if I was spending the money for a new car, what are these people thinking?

            Audi auto

My '78 Audi 100 is an auto, 3 speed and very smooth. I cheat...I drive it like a clutchless manual and have to as the hills here are so steep (Oh.. and it has no brakes!)
One hill close to us is so long and steep that you can smell the automatic cars coming before they arrive. These transmissions breed laziness and in steep terrain should be manually downshifted to give engine braking. But try to tell your average Commodore driver that!!!

Change the subsection heading to S3 instead of TT

Mate owns an S3 always complains about the S3 not getting a mention haha

                My ignorance.

Is the S3 the same car as the TT? If so, would the majority of owners or the public know that? Or are they likely to be looking for a place to chat about TTs?

no 2 completly different cars. the S3 is an AWD 2L turbo 163kw version of the A3 and the TT is a coupe and can come as a hard top or a soft top in various guises one even has the R32's V6 .

S3 is 1.8 and the same as TT. TT is available as AWD same as S3 or 2WD same as A3. The TT is the same as the S3/A3 as the Golf/Skoda/Seat is.

Audi did not have a 2.0 Turbo until a few months ago when they released the 2.0FSI Turbo.

Engine: VW/Audi's ubiquitous 20-valve 1.8-litre four mit turbo in its most potent form. The recent upgrade boosts output to 165kW and 280Nm of torque. This is a very strong engine with pulling power from low revs in every gear. Performance is in the sub-7-second bracket from rest to 100kmh, where there's still a couple more gears to go.

alas your right... my bad i extend my apologies
