  • Omg How Much?

    Hi there guys. I drive an a4 b5 2.6Q

I brought the car to a mech friend of our family to get the clutch replaced.
after they took the gearbox and the old clutch out they saw that the flywheel was damaged. I was thinking oh no more problems.. they tried to get it machined but the shop said its double sided or something thats why it cant be machined. We called a few shops wreckers and ask if how much for the flywheel and we got quoted $3000 and 800 for the clutch kit. I wont be able to afford a new one so now i dont know what to do...

Is that the normal price for the flywheel?

    Audi parts are typically expensive.

suggest you do some online homework and consider buying ex europe or USA.

Its not the right one for your car, but the following example:

shows they are selling for around $500ish US. so your landed cost here would be circa $850ish

Speak to Australian Clutch Services in Adelaide.

David seems to be up on Euro vehicles.

I have got good prices on clutches for FWD stuff like Polos and Golfs.

It is probably the dual mass flywheel and they are expensive.

X2 just go over there and say that their prices are unreasonable, as long as they haven't started work they have nothing to argue with. And even if they had started its probably still more financially viable to pay the labour costs and go elsewhere...
