Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey guys
I have been offered the chance to buy this car

It’s been gathering dust for the last 3+ years but was a daily driver prior to this.
I don’t know much about the car except that the owner now lives overseas, the paintwork has light scratches from ****s writing in the dust.
Battery is likely to be dead, obviously it will need a complete change of all fluids.
I can only assume that the owner will take the red book value of the car. They are definitely open to selling the car. Any advice recommendations you guys can give me? Tuneable? Things to look out for, easy upgrades?
It will be low mileage as it’s stood for so long and I will get the vin number to do a rego check etc. I checked the plates but rego check gives nothing on them as it’s not been registered for years.
    Thanks Lloyd

A few things I would be asking is the year of manufacture, the engine size & engine no prefix & the cost of comp. insurance.
If you post these details someone will post there thoughts.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
