Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • RNS-E maps (UK to AUS)

Looking at getting a 05 Gallardo with the Audi RNS-E system and was wondering, is it just a matter up uploading the AUS maps in it or will I need to replace the whole system for Aus maps ?
I still have my old maps from my TTRS from years back but any maps is better than having UK maps installed

I have not played in the RNS-E space so can't provide first hand knowledge on that one but I believe it is more than just loading in Australian maps.
    Have a look at this site - Audi A3 A4 A5 A6 A7 A8 Q7 A1 Q3 Q5 R8 TT Navigation System Conversion import UK to Australia MMI 3G 3G+ RNS-e - Euro Car Performance & Electronics Upgrades
I am not recommending them or anything but it may be worth having a talk with them for further guidance.

I've got a cd I bought (legit or not I don't know) years ago which I was told was the latest Aussie map before they stopped producing them...

I don't have an rns-e anymore so you're welcome to have it. pm me your address and I'll put it in the post...

I also played around with the unit quite a bit but have forgotten most of it. I do remember an option to get in to the background menu but not sure if that will be any help...

Yeh going off the ross tech forum it’s just a matter of coding.
I don’t understand why euro car are asking $7000 to go from uk to aus? Seems like you can just do all this in the system ?
