Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I'm having a bit of a hard time purchasing these lights online. Can anyone recommend a website or vendor to get these?

Jetta 5C LED Taillights + 4x Adapters - For UK and RHD markets

Genuine OEM. I don't do aftermarket much. They come with adaptors for cars like ours as the stock electrical harnesses do not fit the LED tails. The harnesses are sturdy and felt well made.

The lights are essentially plug and play once the harnesses are used.

VCDS is to be used not to enable them but to remove false bulb out errors. I am still looking for the right VCDS code for byte 18 in the CECM. I've seen golf 6 owners use "15" as their solution but that info has been from 2010.

Coded byte 18 in CECM to "AA" via VCDS long coder. Lights work differently now but I have no bulb out errors. Seems like the car didn't like the brake lights not being on when park lights or headlights were engaged when byte 18 was set to "8C"

                Current working:

Any Jettas in Australia with LED tails from factory? If so a video of how they work would be appreciated. VCDS scans too would be appreciated.

                  Hi Rawcpoppa !!
I put some VW OEM LED tail lights in last nite and got them coded with no warning lights on the dash !! and they work how they should.. but the only thing you lose is your rear fog light .. Try changing the "8C" to>> "53" !!! if that doesnt work let me know and ill copy my long code for you .

Thanks for the info. I have tried this 53 before but this was the result:

                    "53/50
                    PARK LIGHTS GOOD
REARS DO NOT WORK AT ALL"

I have yet to continue on from the value AA I am using. I think alot of the results have to do with how the lights are wired depending on who made the wire harnesses. 53 seems to work for many american Jettas but I don't think they have rear fogs in many instances although I might be wrong. Here are some of my quick notes for values that gave a pseudo positive response when I tried them in byte 18:

                    "Original long coding 08000A3F882DE1C0C0080080040081E447200088508089605C 8020000040

I've never used full long coding before. I'll have a look thru my code and yours and see what the differences are before I start changing things up. What model and year Jetta do you own again? Also where did you get your lights and wire harness from?

I have a 2012 118tsi manual. I got the tail light from VW dealer in Adelaide, they have a great parts department at Solitaire !! So the tail lights are Genuine VW.. But i got the adapter cables for the connectors from car systems.

Do you have this installed in your Jetta? If yes do you get any errors? If no errors did you use adaptors with built in resistors or did you code it out?
