Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Help needed re keys

    Hi all

Hope I put this in the right spot. I picked up a 2006 1K TDI today, and, typical dealer, only got one key. It does have the remote unlocking.
Is it possible to get a key with just the transponder and not worry about the remote?
It's only for the spare set so I'm not too concerned about the remote as well. Also where would be the best place to get it? I'm in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

    cheers...doc

yes you can order a blade only or a key without remote.. dealer will get you one cut from singapore then it will need coding through the dealer online network....

Problem solved. Rang the previous owner as I had his details on the service receipts. He has another key and I'm picking it up tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion vdub.

        cheers.
