Hey guys, this post probably should be under general discussion but because It focuses on Mk5 Jetta and is what I own. Before I bought the car I searched for a new shape or gen. just to see, I suppose with any car you never really like when a distinctively newer and nicer shape comes out. Year model I can deal with but shape makes a big difference sometimes. This is probably old news but I found new shape jetta in U.S and IMO I think the Mk5 will survive another round. Relating only to the jetta, I can not quite pin point it but something is lost with the change. I am not saying this because have the Mk5. That is why I checked before I bought it. So if or when they are released in australia I can see what I am up against as far as esthetics go and apart from the price tag and extra features. I thought they would just use the Mk6 golf and add a boot, but not quite the case. The golf could be a whole other discussion....dunno, leave comments on what you think about the golf's evolution anyway. So about the jetta, of course this is just an opinion and I think there is a level of respect that goes with any model or shape car as they are all great in there own way. Like the Mk2 Golf I used to own....absolutely loved it and would kill to have it again. What does everybody else think, maybe I am just trying to convince myself. Dont know if it is just me but it has been the case with two of my previous cars as well......Honda prelude and Corolla Hatch, both better looking to me than there newer rivals. Hey maybe they just dont get it right all the time.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The new corporate face is just boring imho.
No awesome design cues, boxy headlights and grill, boring wheel designs.
The New passat looks like an Aurion if you took the badge off the front.
The Polo looks like an echo from behind.
Shame though as the previous gen Vw's all looked really unique.

I think the new Jetta has gtown slightly to better compete with Accord Euro/Mazda 6,but looks wise,I think it is definatly an improvement,as it now looks VERY much like a new Audi A4.
Is also selling like hot cakes in USA,Mexico, and Canada.
Cant wait to see it locally in August, should again be very popular here.
