Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Something that is ph neutral is the way to go don't forget to use the 2 bucket method for your wash

Micro fibre hand towels as well rinse often and change for a new one if it gets even slightly dirty

They are cheap to buy and you can wash them and reuse just make sure to wash them on their own not with other washing or they will pick up all the lint in the wash

      Don't use dishwashing liquid...

I usually use Meguires, although Autoglym has a good name as well. The mix uses very little concentrate so a bottle lasts a long time. I also use microfibre cloths.

I get my paintwork treated with something like fireglaze (what some dealers use for paint protection but at about $40 bottle which lasts forever you can do yourself) which makes the car a lot easier to wash (and its very shiny).

I use Bowdens Own myself. But there's plenty of good brands out there. The Bowdens website has some really handy videos for checking out how their different products work etc.
