Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Mark1 my first passion

Hi there, I am a Tax accountant and live in Haberfield NSW.

I am new to forums and I think this is the place where I am supposed to introduce myself.
I am passionate about cars, my late dad was a specialist Lancia motor mechanic and I guess passed on the passion I have for cars.
I owned a Ferrari Mondial for 10 years and did a lot of work on it, a Maserati Grandsport of recent and now I am driving a Land Rover Discovery HSE 2015... the "Family" car.
I am looking for "my" next car.
Many years ago I owned and done quite a bit of work to my Golf Mark1 then sold it some time later... over the years the Mark1 golf has always been my first love in cars... first time I did extensive mechanic work on a car... lucky me I had my dad who got me out of trouble with this project when needed....pretty much all the way.

So the Golf Mark1 and working on it I guess has a special place with me as it reminds of that special bond I had with my father and our passion for cars.

After many years I (I am 56 now...) I started doing some research as to how I go about owning one again, in this process I noticed that the mark1 was never sold here in Australia and the ones here have been imported privately....surely now are rare to be seen on roads let alone on "Carsales.com", so I thought need to get in touch with people that are passionate as me about this car and here I am...

I guess I will need to keep an eye on the "classified" and the other related threads and looking forward to reacquaint myself with this little icon...
Working...
