Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hello everyone *insert strong french accent, beret, stripped shirt and baguette*

I just decided to register (and try to contribute) today since I'm the proud owner of a 2009 mk5 Golf V owner.

    The guy :
Luis, french guy living in Paris, been a petrol head since I was a kid, owned a load of cars ( first one was a Golf II GTI 8v ).
Computer engineer by trade, tinkerer by passion - currently restoring a 1971 Ford Capri as a side project

    The ride :

2009, Golf V 1.9 TDI Bluemotion (105 slightly annoyed donkeys under the hood)
All bells and whistles included :
    - "Follow me home" lights (both coming and leaving mode) and automatic lights
    - Cruise Control
    - Remote window control
    - Highline MFD
    - 8 button Multi Function Steeting Wheel (MFSW)
    - RCD 330 Plus ( Desay aka 187A - Windows CE ) to replace the ugly and pathetic RCD300 that came with.

    Projects :
    - CAN Bus hack in progress, I'm working on building a module to interface the current MFSW and red MFD to work with the RCD330. Objectives are simple : cheap (Arduino based), simple, and most important, invisible. I want to keep the modifications to a minimum : a couple of wires to plug on the power & CAN bus, and restore functionality as if it came out of the factory.
    - Parking sensors retrofit planned for this weekend (hopefuly)

    Have a nice day!
