Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi all

My first ever car was a VW beetle back in 1983. At that time it was the same age as myself... say no more

Anyway, that's where it ended for a number of years but now we have 2 golfs in the family. I came here because after a google search I found a post where someone else was looking for a good VW auto mechanic to do some work on an old car.

I came up with Jmac but have now noticed that his inbox is too full to receive more messages. I was hoping to get in touch with him or anyone else who can help. The car is a 2001 Golf Gi Hatchback and I think it needs a new clutch, some gearbox work, A/C isn't working properly and there is a door locking problem as well. Would like to keep it in the family but only if these repairs are possible without too much expense.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
Working...
