Hi All - new to the forum. I have 2001 Caravelle 2.5 tdi auto (T4?) with 264k on the clock and the gearbox has given up the ghost. From the info I have gleaned from similar forums and from a multitude of mechanics and vw owners is that these model gearboxes went that good from the get go. I am now in the process of deciding whether to get a rebuild ( but from initial quotes this is going to be exxie) convert to a manual or send the old bus to veedub heaven. If anyone has any good advice ( costings, embuggerence factors etc ) it would be appreciated. One deciding factor is the boss wants shot of the vehicle so I may not have any say in the matter. One of the reasons I want to keep the old girl is that it has been a great all round vehicle - camping, tip runs, transporting a bevy of kids and their mates so it holds a special place. Anyway any pearls of wisdom would be welcomed
