Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi Guys n Gals,

I'm new to this thread. I purchased my brand new MY16 Golf R VII (Wolfsburg Edition) in Jan this year. I reluctantly traded my 2012 Scirocco R as the Ks were getting up and my lease was over, also I owned a Subaru WRX prior to the Scirocco and I really missed the AWD.
Initially I was extremely disappointed with the Golf R as I had several problems with it...interior rattles, squeeking door rubbers and overall build quality seemed well down on the Scirocco. After 6 months and much troubleshooting I'm now starting to enjoy the Golf. I'm about to upgrade suspension, intake, exhaust etc...any advice is gratefully welcome.

    Cheers
    Paul

Hi Paul, there are many choices when it comes to suspension, in my own golf R im running, VWR Spring Kit - Good Lowering Amount, and still comfortable with DCC Settings on Comfort. You also have H&R Spring Kit - a bit lower in the rear, and less comfortable even when using the DCC. You are also able to purchase coilover kits, which incorporate DCC but are very pricey! as for intakes, there are so many to choose from, - APR - CTS -VWR - FORGE (have a look at these intakes and see which one you like) - Exhaust, id recommend either getting your Down pipe changed, for more throaty sounds and pop, or if you want a cheap but decent mod, having your Resonator removed. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions, ive owned mine for 2 years now, and just touching 60,000ks.
