Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NZ VW newbie in Wellington

Hi everyone, after years of Jappa's I've finally got the taste for the finer things in life and recently acquired an MY10.5 (maybe) 2010 R36 Variant in black, I'm really hoping it treats me well.

I do love it as is but there's a few things that I'd like to address & improve so she'll keep me busy and a little bit poorer but I do like the drive and love the noise

I'm in Wellington and would love to get in touch with anyone else in the area, who's a like-minded R36 enthusiast or any other VW for that matter.

    Cheers

    Hi Pasta,

Do us a favour will you and post photo of your beast?

I quite like the black ones, rare as hens teeth here in Oz.

    Cheers,

    Chris

      Hi Chris,

Wow, they're the most common in NZ. Admittedly, most will be imports here.

Truth be told, I didn't want black originally, I really wanted a white one (or the biscay blue) as I've never seen white in the wild here in NZ. But when I saw the black with the black 19's, I had to have it!

Here's mine after a fresh clean

I've not actually taken any pics of the front. Reason being that this has the worse stone-chipping I think I've ever seen!

However, she's due in the local 'panel n paint' shop in 2 weeks to have that resolved and also have the flat silver grille section colour matched to the rest of the nose! Will post some before/after pics if anyone's interested.

      Regards,
      Jamie

Hey Jamie. She looks good! Who'd have thunk that NZers would go for the all black R36s???? Lol
