Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Looking to buy

    Hi folks,
I've just joined this forum and thought I would say hello.
I've joined as I wanted to get some feedback, I'm looking at possibly buying a new Passat, however, I'm hearing a lot of murmurings that the VW Service/Support/Warranty isn't very good and it's starting to put me off buying one.

    Wondering what everyone's experience is.

Or can someone point me in the direction of the relevant thread.

    Cheers,

Hi New Dubber. The murmurings are true, the after sale support offered to customers by VW and their dealerships in Australia is of extremely low standard/almost non existent. After the 3 year warranty period is up on your vehicle, and a system or part that really should not fail until the vehicle is much older or has done over 100,000 kms, like a water pump for example, they will not help you out - at all. It is worthwhile considering other car manufacturers that have longer warranty periods, those that have good value capped price servicing or even free servicing for the first three years of the life of the vehicle etc as VW is no longer competitive in this way, they don't care about the quality of their vehicles or their customers. I will never buy one again. Happy to tell you more if you want to know more. Cheers
