Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Greetings fellow Dubbers.

    I have been a regular peruser of the forums; your advice and ideas, pros and cons helped when I was investigating purchasing the company car I had been driving. Which I then did.

    So, my ride:

    A Nov 2007 Mk5 2.0 TDI Comfortline, with no mods other than my own upgrade to the RCD510, and bluetooth. I had wanted to chip it up from the basic 103kW, to 130, but my mechanic warned me "Not goot. Bits ov your car vill fall off, you do that!", so it didn't get chipped. Thanks, Paulie!

    I have been driving this car since I joined the company, in 2010. They bought it new, and it had 25k on the clock when I started. In 2014, I purchased it from the company, with 250k showing, nearly all of which was me). Jan 2016 saw a gearbox rebuild, but other than that, she's been a bloody marvel!

    But, it's time to look at moving on, so I am looking at it's big brother, the Tiguan.

    Some nice ones out there, though I cannot afford the new MY17 model, if I can lay hands on one of tigger73's Bargain MY15 TDI's sitting forlornly in a yard in SA (I believe), then I think I know where my new car will come from. Especially if I can score one with the R Line package.

    Going to miss the Beast, but Beast v2 should be a monster!

    Have you considered a Yeti?

      Seriously though, I was unable to find a diesel variant when I checked their website, in either (what I am assuming was) the 2WD variant, or the 4X4. And with the k's I do, and expect to continue doing, anything petrol is not on my list of potentials.

      And though I did not look any further at the other models, whilst there may have been a diesel model somewhere, the mid size SUV is my only option due to size, load capacity, and ease of access (getting in and out of low-slung cars is getting to be a right pain), hence the Tig, and not another Golf, or even Passat wagon (Rapid or Octavia), and if my accountant won't let me buy a *new* Tig, gauranteed she's not going to agree to me going for the new Kodiaq, either.
