Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hello from melbs

    Hi all,

Ok first things first - I dont own a golf - yet! But really interested in getting either a MK7 GTI or Audi S3 as a daily. So I thought i'd better do my research beforehand and make an informed decision, hence the reason behind joining the forum. My daily is a 2009 corolla and she's been a good little daily. easy 700k's to the tank and ridiculously reliable. My weekend toy is a Mitsubishi Evolution 6.5 Tommi Makinnen edition. So the plan is to replace the corolla with a Golf. Really like the Mk7 GTI. Also have an unnatural liking to the MK5 Pirelli edition! So apologies in advance but I will be asking some noobish questions to ramp up my understanding of all things VW.

    Cheers

thank the lord you said to replace the corolla with the golf and not the evo. 7gti is mint, front wheel drive, s3 is 4wd [haldex system] prices differ if looking brand new, you can also look at the 35ED golf, which is a gti running a golf r engine from the Version 6 platform.

Haha Tommi aint going nowhere! thats a keeper! so do you mean the GTI edition 35? So does it have the EA888 based engine and not the newer one? Im trying to figure out why VW kept on going back to the older engine for high boost applications.
