Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Newbie with a T5 Camper

Hi there, I have just joined.

We have a 2006 T5 Transporter (ex Kea Rental) camper, 2.5 ltr 5 cylinder diesel with 6 speed auto that we purchased in July 2015. This is the first vehicle of this type that we have owned and love the way we sit up high with a good view above the other plebs on the road. The diesel with auto is a breeze to drive and also surprisingly economical for what is after-all a brick on wheels trying to push through the air.

We are getting better economy overall than my previous V6 Commodore ute (petrol) .....not really surprised given the better torque of the diesel that will always beat a petrol in overall performance.

We have also just purchased a 1991 Viscount Nipper 12' 6" caravan that we tow with the T5.....hardly know it is behind us as it only weighs about 800kgs and follows along perfectly at highway speeds.

We hope to have lots of fun with both the T5 and the Nipper caravan......

    Alan
