Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD New VW Passat Owner

    Hi All,

Just trying to find out a few things with my new Passat Alltrack 2016. This is my first VW and the books seem not to have all the information or its for the euro version. I have found this site by Google searching for forums as I would like to find a few things out.
    1. Does the traffic part od the stereo work in Brisbane if so how do I get it to.
    2. What are the bulbs in the headlights I didn't get the luxury pack but want to put in LED bulbs just can find out what they are.

I must say I have had my Passat for a month now done 2500k already and am thoroughly enjoying the drive it is handling the QLD roads very nicely.
    Thanks

Not sure about the first but LED are a different tech from the Xenon, not a swap

Pretty sure traffic doesnt work here as its a licenced service and VW havent paid the fees to allow it. Later model units may have a different type but RNS 510 certainly dont. As far as the headlights are concerened todo it properly you would have to change the whole units as the reflectors ar a different shape depending on the type of bulbs. EG is unwise to put xenon in a halogen unit as they will flare due to the different length of the bulb in relation to the reflector

It is more than that, the Xenon run different power to LED, so they would probably burn out
