Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Newbie with car troubles

    Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 2012 Golf TSI 90 second hand about a month ago. Went to a specialist who told me that there was the standard shuttering transmission and it needed fixing. Would set me back 4k at the dealership.

He did mention that because my car was about 4 years old with only 23000km done, been serviced at a VW dealer, they might cover it under goodwill. I have read conflicting reports about this goodwill policy.

I am pretty annoyed at this revelation as I have heard VW customer service is not great.....

Anyway, I look forward to learning more about my car from this forum.

Take it to a VW dealer and ask them to assess it for a warranty claim. It's a known issue and at 23,000 KM I'd be very surprised if they don't come to the party.

Also, if you bought it from a dealer, you will have some sort of warranty through that dealer.

    Cheers
