Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW New B8 Passat Estate R-Line

Hello everybody. Newbie in the house. Picked up my '16, Indium Grey Passat Estate with R-Line and Luxury package last Tuesday. Loving it. Coming off a '14 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT with the 6.4L engine that was a blast to drive except for the fuel cost factor. Love the refinement and fit and finish of the B8 and already eyeing the APR chip.

While researching cars, I was checking out the Skoda Superb 206TSI Sedan, the Octavia RS 162TSI Wagon and a '14 Audi A5. I nearly grabbed the Superb because it is just so beautiful and had heaps of space but the Passat Wagon just had something about it. Plus, I couldn't go past the price especially so close to EOFY.

Only minor complaints are the 19" wheels are a bit rough for Sydney roads (or vice versa) and the exposed headliner at the rear drivers side door which will get fixed real soon underwarranty.

Anyway, hope this turns out to be a great experience.

Congratulations!Having looked at both Superb and the B8 there is a perceptible difference in their build quality and add to it B8's better looks. I was pretty to close to buying a B8 but held off to have a look at the new Tiguan. If the new Tiguan is going to be very dear I may have to go down your way!Would you mind sharing some price details?

Yeah, the new Tiguan is looking much better than the previous model. As if it's a model of it's own instead of a mini-Touareg. IF I could've wait a few more months, I'd get the 206kW Passat or the BiTDI if they release it here. I get the feeling you'll be seeing a lot more Superbs around. I wanted the 206kW hatch but they are in short supply. There's a sweet blue one in Vic that may be worth taking a look at.

I paid ~$47K drive away. That was at EOFY and the dealer wanted to make their numbers. Plus they had this one in stock. Haven't confirmed that it was an amazing deal or if I could've gotten it for a bit less but I'm happy with it. Financed it through Macquarie Leasing who gave me 95,000 Qantas FF Points for a slightly higher interest rate.
