Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • g'day all - Wagga newbie

hello all. I've been a bit of a VW fan for some time. First (and one of the best) VWs I've had was a '66 1300 beetle. Many happy miles around lots of bits of Australia in this one back in the early/mid '70s. (Sneaked in a '59 model 356A Porsche around '75.) Next was a '70 model 1600 early-model 'Superbug' - nowhere near the build quality or reliability of the earlier 1300. A big non-VW gap until a 2009 model, 103kW TDI Passat for a couple of years (very happy with this car), followed by a 103kW TDI Golf Wagon (probably the most useful vehicle I've ever owned from the 30-odd cars I've had through my lifetime). Currently own a 180kW Touareg with a large amount of front & left-side damage due to a recent altercation with a large kangaroo - not happy
