Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Non Aus Hi all.

Hi to all the VWWatercooled users. This is probably the best forum site I've ever stumbled on on my years as an owner of VAG cars. Quite a lot of other forums end up linking to here at some stage especially when looking for good technical information/VCDS related queries.

I recently traded in my 2015 SEAT Leon FR 184 for a 2015 Mk7 Golf GTD. Still undecided whether it was the best move (financially) hit the Golf certainly drives better and feels a lot sharper and agile. The Leon was a good car but the Golf is better in my opinion. I have a Bluefin Remap on the Golf and I'm enjoying the driving experience that it has brought.

I'm 39, live in the very North West of England. I've owned most VW Golf models produced at some stage and in various degrees of condition. I've owned a VCDS cable from Ross-Tech for about 8 - 10 years or so (I'd guess). I like to get to know a lot more about the Leuchte channels and how to adapt them to my custom requirements. I was gutted to learn that the "Double U" drl's are unique to the Golf R as I assumed that they'd just need activated using VCDS when I first looked at my GTD's light cluster.

I'm an electrical engineer by trade so I can usually pick up on electrical/electronic theory etc but this Leuchte mapping to channels etc had me beat at the moment!

I hope to make some friends on here and will definitely try to help any other forum members out if I can along the way.

    Jon.
