Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey Guys,
ScottyD here.. I live in Sunny Sawtell NSW. I recently bought a 97 VW transporter T4.. What a great van. I didn't have much choice as I have recently completed a work contract which came with a new Hiace van. To get back into contracting work, I needed to get something cheap and reliable. My better half found this VW van on Gumtree and just had a good feeling about.. Well, it's a gem.. I have just about finished kitting it out for my work, which included building shelving and drawers into the back, installing a self modified cage and building a centre console drink holder. I had to do a slight mod to put roofracks on and am building a ladder rack this weekend. Oh, and it cam with a raised floor, so a great place for extra storage. Van has a bit of rust, but generally in good nick for its age. It has the 2lt engine with 391000 on the clock. Starts well, runs well.. Only issue is that the previous owner changed the ' bushel' and this makes the 1st and 2nd gear and absolute bitch to get into... Hence, joining the forum to see what can be done.
i have always loved older type vehicles as they have character, and this is going to be my baby for the next few yrs.. I plan on cleaning up all the rust, having a respray (it's white and will stay white) getting some work sign writing done and hopefully have problem free travels for as many years as she will serv me.
    She is called The Comet.
    Cheers for now
    Scott
