Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    NSW New owner - Tigaun R-line

    Hi Guys

    Just thought i'd introduce myself... Im Nigel from Sydney and just picked up a new Tiguan R-line in the last month. Mostly very impressed with the car but have a few things id love to chat to people about and also find out what else others are doing to their cars out there.

    Of the list of things i want to do so far includes;
    - Tinting... reasonably dark
    - Voice control - when i press the button it tells me I need to see my dealer for an activation key. I thought i paid for every single upgrade... Dealer is giving me the run around at the moment (Five-Dock) telling me it works with apple car play but the contradicting themselves saying I have to pay for the upgrade.
    - Umbrella - the Dealer promised my wife a VW umbrella but its been 6 weeks now.... again, another run around.

    Mostly keen on the tinting and voice control - meh on the umbrella...

    Firstly welcome and nice choice!

    I think a few other people ran into similar issues where either the options either weren't explained correctly or the salesperson didn't know what was or wasn't included as standard.

    It's always harder to get things fixed once you have paid cash and taken delivery... though you probably only found out the problems once you had got the car home.

        The only way to go is up to the Sales manager and the dealer principal. If you get no joy then speak to VW.

        The dealers have targets in terms of customer satisfaction that they have to meet. If they get a really poor response it will pull their figures down. The dealer principal should be concerned about it. If not VW can bring it to his attention

          Hi Nigel,

          For window tinting I highly recommend Rob at Hunters Hill Window Tinting which strangely enough is not at Hunters Hill but at North Ryde. I've had two cars tinted there in the last year and a bit and both were done to a very high standard, were ready at the right time and reasonably priced. Good guy to deal with.

                realise I've been a bit slack on this forum. To answer a few questions...

                no love on the voice control - they wanted $250 for that and I did a fair bit of complaining... no budge. I did not (rightly or wrongly) follow up with VW on this one... maybe I should.

                Car has done about 11k so far and I've had no issues but really want to get a chip - I read around that APR stage 1 looks like a good bet.

                And yes - I got the MY16
