Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Your friendly neighborhood VW Polo'er...

    Hi everyone!

My name is James and I'll get right to it - on four wheels, I'm currently traveling along in a 2012 Polo 6R Comfortline that has yet to reach 60k.

My car history hasn't been the most glamorous:
    • '91 VN Commodore
    • '89 Subaru Liberty
    • '96 Pulsar

After buying, the restrictions were relaxed on my Polo's forced-induction bigger brothers. Overall it was a good find - very low kms, bought from first owner, some great extras and was a weekend car for a high end executive from Apple.

I have really loved the Vee-Dubs for a while, and I'm finding that my taste falls into the euro's.

I'm still new to the car scene but I am always up to learn a thing or two. Teach me, I am never stuck up and respect the knowledge of others.

I came across these forums from some of my mechanic's older forum posts.

I currently work as an IT Operations Technician. My dream job would be to fuse my love of computers with my passion for cars, but in such a way that enhances the specifics of the whole driving experience.

My dream car would have to be a VW Golf R32 MkV 6 speed. There's so much I love about the whole platform, and have always wanted to take one for a test drive. That, or one of the higher spec Audi's.

I'm pretty old school with my preferences on modifications. I like clean and simple. I have been recommended to not add forced induction to the current Polo, but I'm still honestly weighing it up - if I couldn't, I'd just make changes to refine the existing attributes of the car - and make it just right.

    So Hello!
