Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SA Hi newbie here.. questions?

    Hey all, newbie here

I am currently looking around for a later model used car, (I currently drive 2006 subaru forester), have been checking out the Skoda Octavia 147TSI RS line up for a few weeks now, I am due
to test drive my first one this weekend actually, am keen to see what they are like. I have questions though...

    1. What is the difference between the TSI and TDI eg. 147TSI RS and the 125TDI RS versions?
    2. I am looking from 2011 onwards, any models I should look out for?, were there any updates during these years?
    3. What are the things I should watch out for when looking at one of these things?
    4. What are the typical servicing cost associated with owning this model? (147TSI RS)

Most the cars I have seen online are autos with around 30,000ks to 80,000ks on the clock, Im guessing Manuals are rare.

I have a family (2 little kids) and would be interested to know how people cope with the space with the hatch version
or wagon version of the car?

    any advise would be great

    Thanks guys!
