Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2010 Tiguan 2.0 103TDI Manual

Hi everyone. First time joining a car forum. Hopefully I bring more answers than questions.

Picked-up this car 18mths ago at ~80,000 KM, ex family business. Now @120,000kms.

36y/o, but only owned 2 cars before, both 70's hotties. Got a young family, so needed something more practical/useful.

Had/Noticed many small quirks over the years, but overall very happy.

Not used to spending regular money on servicing & 'modern car' stuff... but it's par for the course. Used to servicing cars myself, and spending money on things the car really doesn't 'need', Ha.

    Welcome to the forums mate.
The 103TDI's were pretty popular and quite the workhorse.

        Cheers.

Family business still has diesel Skoda Octavia (DSG) sedan, diesel golf (DSG) diesel Amarok (Auto), and another diesel Tiguan (manual).
        (VW fanboys).
Both tiguans are on the list for the recall. Not sure if we're fussed about it.

I wouldn't be too fussed - as long as you're not trying to trade in the car now you'll be fine.

6-12 months down the track once the whole debacle is over the media will find something else to make a storm in a teacup about.

I really think that there's other issues that are more critical in terms of the consumer - like all the faulty airbags that are out there and the ignition switch issues, tyres delaminating, etc, etc all of which have the potential to kill you. The fact that the car is making a few more emissions than was quoted really doesn't effect the end consumer/safety of the vehicle at all.
