Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Hi from long lovers of Japs JDM Cars

Gday all, been in car world for a very long time, been on many different forums for different JDM cars owned in the past. S15, VR4, EVO7, multiple Honda's and there was one Euro car E46 320Ci.

I am joining this forum since I am currently hunting for a Polo GTI 9N and wanted to find out about possibility of reflashing the ECU yourself rather than buying APR. GIAC, etc...... I have done this couple times on my JDM cars. Not sure what is the deal with VW cars.

Anyway I guess I'll start to find the answers somewhere here then, or if anyone keen to point me in the right direction for modifying ECU on Polo GTI 9N then PM me. cheers

welcome! these cars aren't like the JDM cars you've had, believe me i had an Evo 8. for the whole ecu tune and what not, you'll have to go APR/REVO or whatever brand you find that will tune your car, I chose APR because in the R club we have a partnered workshop in my local area.
