  • Anxious in Melbourne

    Hi All.

Joined to be part of the Passat B8 conversations as a perspective buyer and hopefully an owner in October. Am keeping my fingers crossed that we get the same models as NZ as I have my heart set on the 500Nm Bi-TDI R-Line. Will be my first VW, if they don't treat us like second class global citizens by not bringing the higher end models here, and if it lives up to the promise probably not the last as I tend to be brand loyal unless I feel I am getting a raw deal.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Unless there's a second round of approvals that come through the only cars that are going to be available at launch are the 132TSI and 140TDI. They're nice but no real performance vehicle in the range at least for now at least.

    2017 Tiguan Sportline - Tigger73's 162TSI Sportline

    2016 Scirocco R, stage 1, 205kwaw (sold) - Tigger73's Scirocco R Build
    2013 Tiguan 155TSI, stage 1, 144kwaw (sold) - Tigger73's 155TSI Build
    2011 Tiguan 125TSI, Stage 2+, 152kwaw (sold)
    - Tigger73's 125TSI Build

That's what i have been reading but I hope that they pull a surprise on us at the last minute., I'll only buy an AWD with some of the higher end options like the AID, Discovery Pro etc which, going by the NZ specs at least, are only available on the two top end models. I cannot think of any valid reason why they would decide not to bring them out here that is not short sighted and actually damage their sales/rep rather than be of benefit.
