Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Noob on LIVE radio

    Hi guys,
    I'm writing because I have to, not because I want everyone to notice me.
    I am a 2 day passat b7 owner and it came with a Columbus installed instead of the standard rns510. So what I'm doing is trying to reinstall the firmware so maybe the steering wheel commands will work and the phone too. Also, I was thinking that I could change the boot load screen and add the maps again as I haven't received also the CD with the maps.
    I am now reading Kamolds topic on HOW TO and will have to find another good one with the maps.
    If you have any advice as I'm a virgin when it comes to NAVs.

    Make sure you use the EUROPEAN version as the Aussie one has different size partitions and your maps are too big for them

      Yes, thank you. I was planning on that. Do you also know where could Idownload the maps from? Together with a how to?

        Definitely not on here for maps for anywhere Do a search on the net for European maps May be on Euro forums You do realise we are in Australia This post tells you how to load the firmware. Maps just put the DVD in and wait

          Didn't know it's Australian. Through the link you've provided is how I ended up on this wonderful forum together with all you nice people.
          Hope I'll solve it. I've connected a VAG to the car and it seems the RNS isn't communicating at all. So it must be a wire issue. Will try next week to do something.
