Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • T5 ERG drama

    Hello V-Dubbers
Bought my first water-pumper on Monday and its **** itself on Wednesday.
Its a 2012 T5 Transporter with 87500km on the dial and the catalytic converter light comes on.Take it to a dealer and they inform me the ERG valve is stuffed and a new one is $800 and $700 for fitting as its a 5 hour job.
Asked about warranty and you get 3yrs/100,000km so its out of warranty.
    Anybody else had this problem?

Try for goodwill assistance from VW.

It's a very common problem with these.

      Thanks mate
Sent a email to VW last night and saw the service centre today.
They say VW will contact them this week as I mentioned them in the email.
They didn't sell me the van and can see my view as my last car was a diesel Toyota that has done 280000k with just regular servicing and the wifes Honda jazz has done 175000k with a $200 fuel pump at 120000k.
Doesn't make the VW look good when it needs $1500 at 87500K does it
