Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WA Multivan 2010

Hi All in the VW Water-cooled community,

I'm the owner of a 20101 BiTDI Multivan, this is the 2nd VW that I've owned.
The 1st was a Beetle, that I swapped for a Ford 9" diff centre as a straight swap (many years ago, still not sure who got the best deal).
The Multivan is used as a Family car to transport the Children to & from school & sight seeing on weekends.
I've recently replaced my O.E.M. brake pads (very dusty) for Bremtec rotors & ceramic pads (not noise or dusty).
I'm interested in lowering the vehicle by 30mm - 50mm. I've spoken with a couple of Companies in W.A. about lowering Multivan's & the knowledge is little.
I'm about to purchase new tyres & will also want to have a wheel alignment at the same time, though I'm still not sure of the best Company for wheel alignments either.
I'm considering the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT, Falken FK453, ContiPremiumContact5 or Bridgestone RE-003

This is the reason for joining the community, to see if there is anyone out there that can -
    A: recommendation of tyres
B: have any knowledge of lowering Multivan 2010's
C: once lowered, correction of the steering geometry & any aftermarket fitment parts required

NB: The lowering of the vehicle will be in a few months, no rush, though I would like to close the gap between the rubber & steel.

    Regards - Stout.
