  • ACT New Skoda Scout owner

    Hi all,

First off, a bit about me - name's Rob, I'm based in Canberra, and just signed the paperwork on a new Skoda Octavia Scout 110TDI. Due to collect it next week. It'll be my first VAG product after nearly 10 years of owning Ford Focuses, which were bloody wonderful cars. The Scout has big boots to fill. I bought it because I spend a lot of time in the alps in winter and during the rest of the year I spend a lot of time on a farm near Young (NSW). Scout struck me as the perfect tool for that work, and a damn sight better than the ungainly Subaru Outback / Forester.

Second, plans. They're pretty limited, if I'm honest. I will look into chipping it at some point down the track, probably once the engine has bedded in and started to spin a little more freely - thinking some time around the 10,000km mark. Would be keen to know if anyone's got any experience with chip tuning Skoda diesels, the sort of performance gains they achieved, and whether they got any grief on the dealer/warranty front. Otherwise, she'll probably be kept pretty stock.

Third, would love to know if there are any fellow Skoda/VW owners in the ACT that can make some helpful suggestions re servicing. Thinking of taking it to the VW Centre in Belconnen for most of its servicing, but open to suggestions. I have generally very little faith in dealer service centres, but more than willing to give Lennock the benefit of the doubt.

    Cheers

    Rob
