Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Just bought a mkV Golf GTI

    Hi!

I just purchased an 07 MkV Golf GTI, and am investigating putting bluetooth in, as well as potentially replacing the RCD 500 unit - I'll post somewhere else more technical for that stuff, I've already done quite a bit of research.

This seems like exactly the place I was looking for

I actually just bought one of these guys. It has BT built in, so you don't need the other ~$350 module. It integrates fully into the car, and just works. Also it's android and is updated regularly. Looks amazing!

Hey, It cost me about $750 AUD. I used the coupon vwvortex to get $50 off (found it on another forum). Shipping was free.

Hopefully it arrives today - I haven't installed it yet but will probably do that tonight. It is advertised as plug and play, and I spoke extensively to the owner Tommy about it. He pretty much sold me on it by answering my questions thoroughly and giving me all the info I needed.
