Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Looking at VW ownership

Hi guys. I'm Lee, and have always liked VW's but have never owned one. Always been a bit of a car enthusiast. Can't really afford a purely recreational toy these days, so need a car that doubles as my work vehicle and werkend enjoyment. Also needs to be family friendly, as I've just had a little girl. Previous two work/play cars after moving from a company car, are a VE SS Wagon, and a Nissan Cube. I am looking at buying a second hand Passat Wagon. I would love an R36, but they are a bit out of budget. Would prefer a diesel, and have between 15 to 20k budgeted. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Suggest either Octavia RS 147TSI or Tiguan 125TSI. Both run the same engine and can be tuned up to ~190kW.

Both these models also come in diesel variants but don't have as much of the "fun" factor.
