Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Thinking of a Passat 118TSI

    G'Day All,

We've been thinking of changing our to a VW Passat MY15 sedan. Drove it a few weeks ago and liked it.

Looking here for advice and problems (DSG anyone )

    Thanks
    Peri

If you can afford it get the diesel. It has a lot more torque down low and has the more reliable DQ250 6 speed DSG. You'll have to rev the 118 to get any performance whereas the 130 diesel pulls well from low in the rev range.

      Hi,

Not a big fan of diesels. Having driven Peugeots and Fords most of the time, not scared of revving the engine a bit. Those Peugeot engines love to be revved.

Afraid the budget doesn't extend either. For $36,990 drive away at the moment, I think it is a good buy.

May be I should post in the Passat tread.

There's a lot of standard equipment in these and the pricing is pretty keen. Not sure what your timing is like but there will be a new Passat here later in the year.

If you're looking at Passat you should cross-shop Superb. You might get a better deal or more car for the same money.
