  • Glasslugger has arrived here via his R32

Grew up on diet of faster than average cars.
    Hillman Hunter GT
    Loudish but crisp sounding mini
Prince Skyline GT 1969? I think 3 solexes, low gearing, cam.... My first love affair with a 6.
Modded rocketship orange 74 RX3 bridge port etc. 875kg of scariness over 190k. Had the wanders like a Kombi in a crazy cross wind. Ducati 900 engine in the boot gave it some traction.
Then Mitsubishi Colt followed by Magna followed by Laser
A forgettable old man Cressida, would understeer from here to Bribane but lovely engine
Subaru Liberty when oldest but tall son could not get out of back seat of WRX or Forester GT.
Had to have a V8 experience so Commodore V8. liquid injection LPG ECU & exhaust plus essential brake upg.
Nothing like a big engine when you want to accelerate
Purchased a Mk VI 118TSI manual with sport suspension for my wife and really enjoyed chucking this thing through the twisty stuff. All at legal speed of course.

After the fun, decided to go for a Golf for myself was the go. A few options: GTI GTD or R32. Remember my earlier love affair with a 6? Yep MkV (best looking Golf after Mk I a bonus) R32.
United Grey in colour, melds with the traffic but the sound of that little 6 with the stock exhaust means you can wind the windows down & turn off the stereo to enjoy. Best exhaust sound this side of a Maser. And street legal.
Had this car for over a year now. So far all fun except the cost of servicing. It helps that my son is an apprentice spare parts dude at a VW dealership. Him, a WRX, but that's his story.

Might attend the Harry's meetup on Saturday 14th Feb.

    Cheers
