Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC New guy from Melbourne with a Transporter Runner

Hey everyone, bought myself a new 2014 runner about a month ago, could not be happier with it!
I have a few questions I'd like to ask,
What the best options are for upgrading the stereo?

Has anyone on here installed a red arc dual battery setup? If so did it void warranty?

Is there a local supplier that sells curtains for these? Ive found a place in the UK but nowhere in aus yet.

Vans gonna be used for work mainly as I'm a carpenter but I also want to be able to use it on weekends to carry the motorbike/ camp in and stuff.

    Thanks,
    Alex

    Welcome to the forum Alex.
The best option for the stereo update is RNS510 or RCD510.
As for the dual battery set up, I'd recommend Redarc BCDC 1220 or BCDC1240 these are the 12V to 12V chargers with no splicing into the factory wires, which won't void the warranty.

      Awesome, thanks.
Are there many differences between the two head units? RNS & RCD510?
Also can you add more speakers?
