Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT Intro Post - Tiguan

    Hi all,

    I feel a bit like an interloper here as my ride is a HSV, however my partner's ride is a '09 Tiguan - that she loves.
    Plus as I moved from a V8 VT Berlina (happy to have the bumper cut to make way for a tow bar) to my GenF GTS (no such cuts will even be considdered)
    Her Tiguan is now the family work-horse also. Plus my brother has a CC (on my recomendation) and my mother a '14 Golf.

    So some upgrades are in order. This weekend I will be installing a reversing camera and 9w7 bluetooth to the RNS-510.
    I have found this forum to be a valuable resource for:
    * scoping out the work
    * deciding if I could do it
    * and then prepairing for it -what to buy, what tools needed...

    It has also as a side effect pointed me at some other worth while updates:
    * New firmware for the RNS-510 - still need to do some research here.
    * Availability and affordability of a map update - $56 for a new DVD with only a 3 business day wait - I would have been mad not to.
    * Replace Disk in the RNS-510 with a larger SSD - must take photos when I do this to update the existing thread.

    Having received so much, I figured I should join so if I find I can give back any tips I learn I can.

    Dave !
