Have been looking to replace my ageing Legnum wagon 2.5 twin turbo AWD with a car offering similar size and performance. Recently decided on the R36 after rejecting Audi options. Not a lot of alternatives out there.
Test drove a Japanese import R36 a while ago and was blown away. Low spec plus couldn't understand the Japanese instructions! Have been lurking on car sales sites over here for a while and there are but 5 R36 options on sale. Nearly got burned by one that had taken a bath and been written off only to be resurrected and put up for sale! Good detective work uncovered that potential disaster.
Next option was to ring around VW dealers asking if any R36 owners were trading in on a new car. Bingo yesterday!
2010 R36 coming up in a couple of weeks when the owner takes delivery of their new car. Would have preferred a private sale rather than dealer price. Would you believe it's only done 25'000 km!!
Plus it's NZ new with one owner and full service record. Has 19" Lagunas and is in Island Grey. Will pay a holding deposit Monday so no one else gets their mits on it. Fingers crossed for an early Xmas present even tho it's going to put a major dent in the bank balance. Was expecting to pay about NZD$45k for one with about 50,000km, so this one will be well North of that.
Very few R36's over here so have spent ages on the net researching and came across this site. No doubt I'll have some questions if all goes to plan.
In in answer to the Sticky question for noobs, I didn't get caught in the filters.
Cheers
