Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC About to buy 2011 GTI MK6

    Hi Guys

I have in the market of buying a 2011 GTI in vic.. I have read the forum its been great help but I now want some more in depth advise. I have found a 2011 MK6 DSG GTI with the following details
    • black on black
    • 52000km
    • very clean
    • 3 door
    • orginall valued at 30950 he has dropped to 26500

Is that price reasonable in VIC ? Also I have heard that there is a major DSG and oli service at 60000km worth roughly 1200-1400 mark that he has not mentions

At the end of the day it is almost a 4 four car.. I have driven the car and i really like it but there service cost of 1500 is too much. Should I ask for a the price to be dropped or is the value at 26500 already low for what is worth.
If someone could give me advise that would be great

Yes major service at 60,000km includes DSG oil change. I'd suggest getting a couple of quotes. But numbers you're talking are probably in the ballpark.

There are quite a few of these cars coming up as they come out of warranty. Check service history and I'd get an inspection by a reputable independent if you're keen on progressing.

    Check carsales/redbook for pricing.

60,000km service includes DSG oil, spark plugs, brake fluid, pollen filter, oil and filter etc. It's around a 800-1200 service from a specialist/VW. But take note it only occurs every 60,000kms, so a small price to pay for a otherwise excellent car.

Drop me a PM mate, I can beat most quotes. The biggest expense for a 60k service is in the DSG oil itself. I'm located over in Sunshine West.
