  • Vic Newbie - soon to be Golf R owner

Hi All, I've put down a deposit today for a MY11 Golf R. Very excited as it's being over 4 years since I've had a turbo car. I was thinking of getting something bigger as I have 2 little ones under 3, but found the interior space to be not bad in the Golf although the boot is a bit smaller in the R. Plus we can do running around stuff in the wive's car.

The R was too good to say no to.

I'm now thinking whether I should get the 3 years extended warranty on it for about $2k. Any feedback/suggestions from other Golf R/Gti owners would be great.

It's a manual with just over 50k Kms.

    Cheers.

Being a manual you should not have many/any issues at all. Extended warranty is piece of mind, but it's also 2k... You just need to decide what you can afford. If you can afford the 2k, then I would go for it...

Thanks, I would prefer to keep the cost down or maybe use it for something else (APR stage 1) but just afraid it will come back and bite me as I don't know a lot about them. I still got time to decide.

Can't wait till I can pick up the car though, there's not a lot of cars that has the level of performance, refinement, practically (to an extend) for the price.

They are quite reliable... It's just a MK5 GTI engine.
