Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi All,

Just joined the forum after 4 weeks ownership of a Black 2008 Passat R36 Wagon with 83,000kms. I purchased it in VIC from the 1st owner and had him provide ALL the service documentation including every single receipt. From the history I can see that the 1st owner took the car back to Barloworld VW for every single niggle as well as DSG shifting issues. In the history it shows that the Mechatronics units was replaced in the 1st year. Ive had no problems with this.

The car has all upgrades being RNS510 with reverse camera and sat nav, Sun roof, Electric tailgate, Dynaudio package. Negotiated price down to $27,000 which I think is pretty good considering they purchased it for $87,000 in 2008.

The car needs RHS seat padding replaced soon as it has collapsed and a small section of leather replaced. It needs a professional cut and polish as it has minor swirl marks from car washes I assume. 1 dent only on the rear RH door which should massage out easily. Underside of front bumper has been scraped but it sound like this is very common.

I've already had the 90,000km service early and roadworhty completed at Jackson VW in Hobart. No issues found with it at all.

Overall I'm a very happy R36 owner. I would say most of which is due to the research I did pre purchase with current owners and from this forum.

    Thanks. Scott.
