Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Looking for my Mk1

    Hey everyone,

Former Mk1 owner here. I had mine for 10years from '89. Did a ton of work to her before there was really much of a Golf scene, tracked her, lowered, resprayed, braced front and rear, harness mounts, aftermarket (Velo?) front seats, Neuspeed front subframe, 1.9L, 40mm DHLA Dell'orto, cam and a bunch of stuff I can't remember. She was painted in Mazda MX5 Mariner blue, had a rattle can black bonnet with pins, purple engine (what was I thinking?!), CSA 15" wheels (which were HUGE in '92!), grey retrimmed interior, cab grille - and a whopping big dent in the NS rear quarter where I lift-off oversteered into a corner at Oran Park. I sold the car at the behest of my wife having bought a new WRX back in '99. Would love to know if anyone remembers the car, or better yet if it's still around. I saw it a couple of years after selling, fundamentally unchanged. NSW rego JBY577. RIng any bells?

    cheers
    Eyman
