Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Happy 118 TSI DSG owner...

... am I the only one?

Long time reader, first time poster (obviously). Love the passion the forum has for VW's. Worried that people only posting when they have problems gives the wider community the impression that every VW ever made is going to explode 3 days out of warranty.

Welcome to the forum. Another happy 118 TSI DSG owner here. I'm guessing you have a mk6 Golf?

There are a couple of types of people on the forum:

      1) Those that are enthusiasts and love talking about their VW/car
      2) People that have a problem and come across the forum when searching on the internet for a solution

When they work (which is most of the time) people are generally very happy with the 118TSI engine and 7 speed DSG.

Unfortunately there are less enthusiasts who buy 118TSI's and it seems that the vast majority of people with 118TSI's on the forum have a problem

This doesn't of course reflect the real world where 98% of the cars don't have an issue.

Welcome to the forum happy 118TSI owner.
There is no car in the world which would never need an attention (repair, maintenance) and when it does, those people who use the internet are most likely to google it. Then they discover the internet forum or a few internet forums where they post their concern about the car, of course they hardly do that when the car is OK and doesn't need anything.

We have Golf6 118TSI DSG in family and are very happy with it as well.
