Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Joining the VW force with an 08' Polo GTI !

    Hey everyone,

Been a long time VWWatercooled guest but finally getting my posts going.

I have had since Sept 2013 an 08 Polo GTI in white and since then done:
    - APR Stage 1 Tune
    - Milltek Downpipe + High Flow Sports Cat
    - PD160 Intake Pipe
    - APR Dog-bone Mount
    - Michelin Pilot Sport 3's
    - FHRX Studios professionally installed audio setup (small fortune)
    - Dash Cubby

Left on the list for me would be:
    - Lightweight 17" Wheels
    - Forge Diverter Valve
    - VAG5 Short Shifter
    - Upgrade brakes and pads.

Loving my car, quick, nimble, sounds great and makes for some interesting daily commutes.
Probably need to stop spending money on it but I just can't help it
Anyways happy to discuss my thoughts and opinions on the 9N3 Polos and hear from others!!

    Ben.

I think most synthetic oils work well. I have Nulon in mine which eradicated a nasty crunch going into 4th.

Rear LCA bushes aren't on you list, I bet they are on teh way out.

      Welcome to the forum.

        Thanks guys!
I have Nulon in the gearbox, recently changed the front bushes and the rears are on the agenda for the next service.
Car is currently on 76,000kms, I've basically tried to make the car as reliable as possible while being able to handle my 'spirited' driving haha. In between services oil and filter changed every 5,000kms. Any other advice for keeping the car bulletproof?

        Ben.

SAI delete if that starts whining, which will need a tune update to fix the fault light. Brake fluid change, Fuel filter if not done on a service. Timing belt too.

Yep fuel filter has been changed recently, break fluid is also on for the next service, timing belt not looking forward to but I will probably do it sooner rather than later!

Seeing as I can't post anything in parts for sale as of yet, just letting everyone know that I have a brand new PD160 intake from JabbaSport in UK that is ready to sold. Paid including delivery about $220, I'll save someone the wait if they want it and can be picked up from North Shore of Sydney or delivered at their expense, nearest offer can have it!

                Ben.
