Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

hi, my fully optioned R has just arrived. was told and expecting a 2014 build, the build date is 2013(dec), apparently all this april delivery in oz are 2013 build. this is a bit disappointing. also its no longer a fuel efficient LCT vehicle.? a bit disillusioned.

LCT is only payable on the amount over the LCT threshold isn't it?
As such, it shouldn't add much more onto the cost.

Did you have a clause in the contract that stated purchase was at your discression following release of specific pricing?

Build date 2013 sounds right as it usually takes 4 months from build - dealership.

yes I do have an out clause from the purchase, although I would prefer not to go this way. With the slightly higher base price and being burdened with LCT then my budget has blown out by $2500. Looks like I,ll have to re-order less a couple of options. As for the build date of 2013, it makes me feel like I,m taking possession of last years model, regardless of it being a MY14. note(leather seats $3150 less gst plus LCT =$3830).

Unfortunately that is how the world works.
You buy a car earlier than April and you get last years model, you buy a car earlier than september and you are likely to miss out on the new model year upgrades effective from 1 July build dates.

that is pretty pricey for leather.
The Tiguan leather option is 4k without luxury car tax....
