Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Hello from Goodyear Croydon!

    Hi everyone!

I'm the Goodyear franchisee from Croydon, Victoria. I realize some guys have found my number in this forum regarding some 225/40r18's so I thought I'd come introduce myself finally.

Appreciate the business you guys are giving my store, and I hope to be able to keep assisting you guys in awesome tyre deals!

Hey I'm just glad there's a local supplier that is providing quality tyres at an affordable price.

Happy to share that info with other forum members.

Also big thanks to Rubal for stocking the common VW tyre sizes. He is sticking his neck out and ordering in bulk sets of tyres so he can offer them at prices that compete with the likes of tyrerack.

Plus great service so why wouldn't you buy local!!!

I had posted about some good deals on Goodyear tyres late last year here: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...res-92584.html

Next set you'll have to check them out

He only buys in bulk on certain sizes that there is significant demand. If it's not a common size he may not be able to give the same level of discount.

However if there are sizes of tyres that he's not currently stocking and there's enough people wanting them I'm sure he'd look at doing a bulk purchase and passing on the savings to forum members.

The prices are so good, to the point that i just want to buy a set of the 18" though my current sets will still last me at least 3 yrs / 40,000km .. :p

thanks Tigger, I did paticipate in that thread.

I think the Assys are a fantastic tyre on those prices are brilliant, if you happen to want those sizes.

I'll make sure I look it up again when my 275s are due for replacement

I've updated pricing/available sizes in the other thread: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ml#post1043081

Unfortunately it's only the common sizes in the performance tyres that are available at the discounted prices. For other sizes you're better off going to a local store or looking at other online stores that carry more of the "odd" sizes.

Just thought I'd share my experience at the store.

Had my rims scratched here. Most obvious scratches were where the old wheel balancing weights was, and for those with dark colour wheels like mine, it can be very obvious.

Store owner and myself have exchanged comments but have come to no resolution.

Interestingly, one of his comments was that his staff informed him that I was standing by the car throughout the process and carefully examining the wheels being taken off and fitted back. This was sadly untrue so that says a lot about his (and the businesses and people who work there) credibility and integrity. I've suggested that he check his CCTV to validate his (staff's) claim.

Obviously their words against mine so who is to say whos telling the truth in a public forum. But again, just sharing my experience here.

No doubt good price for a fantastic set of everyday tyres, but if you have a nice set of wheels that you value and tyre shop that you trust there is always the option of getting your trusted guys to fit it for you.
