I'm Ben from Sydney, I don't own a VW but due to work commitments and the unsuitability of my car (1963 Triumph TR4) or motorbikes, I rely on my girlfriends 2005 MKV 2.0 petrol golf.

She bought the car little bit over a year ago, and I have been the main user of the car since that time. I will keep to the rules and not post any specific questions here, but suffice to say the car has been nothing but trouble since we've owned it.

I am at my wits end with it, and am keeping all available digits crossed that some of you wise folk can shed a little bit of light on the problems we have been experiencing.

Sorry to hear you've had problems Ben! I have a couple of 2005 2.0 MkVs in the family and both have been 100% reliable and trouble-free; there are a few common issues that can come up from time to time, but most are cheaply and easily fixed.
